i finally went and had my haircut this morning. it's to my shoulders and much shorter than it was. the stylist did a great job and talked me into getting highlights as well. in two weeks i have an appointment to get partial highlights. i've never had my hair colored, so this will be interesting and somewhat exciting. |

i got my first ever ticket. a big fat speeding ticket for going 43 in a 25 mph zone. the doylestown cops were doing a speed trap and got two of us in a row and while i was stopped, they nabbed two more cars. the ticket sets me back a hefty $151.50. i told the cop i worked at the clerk of courts in hopes of getting out of the ticket. he said he couldn't do anything for me today, but if i pleaded not guilty he would reduce the points. what a bummer. |

welp, the day has come. after being on the market for well over a year, our house was finally sold. a russian couple purchased it and came over this evening so we could sign the new lease. they seem really nice and best of all, they decided not to raise the rent. bad thing is, they don't want to pay edson to do the landscaping around the house like the other land lord did, so we're not sure who will be taking care of the lawm mowing and all that jazz. i am still hoping that they replace the maroon carpet because i feel that a nice, neutral cream or tan color will go fantastic with our decor and brighten up the flat quite a bit! |

know what really irks me?? when someone who is supposed to be a really good friend makes plans to come over a week in advance to visit for a few hours and ends up canceling less than a half hour before they are scheduled to arrive! actually, i got a text message written in txt msg lingo which totally fueled me to be ticked off. i truly wouldn't be so bothered by it, but this is not the first time plans have gone awry with her! it's not like i can jump in the car and hang out anytime i want to like i could in the olden days, so when plans are made well in advance, i do my best to keep them and expect the same from the other party! grruff.
anyway, i found my pilates dvds. i need to start doing pilates so i can tone up and not be such an oaf. |

so i actually had an eventful 4th of july for once in my life! frank and mac (the gay guys edson does work for) invited us over to their barn for a cook out. the barn is acutally a brand new construction that is amazing inside, complete with high ceilings, exposed beams, gorgeous oak kitchen cabinets, a marble sink in the bathroom and multi-million dollar original oil paintings on almost evey wall. i could have spent hours relaxing in that place. back to the cook out. when edson told me they were having a cook out and wanted us to stop by and visit with them and an organic farming couple from slovenia who live around the way, i imagined a simple and casual bbq qith hot dogs and hamburgers. when we arrived, we were the first ones there and frank was just setting up the little grill. mac sat down with us and started telling me stories about his real estate clients and how he has never had a beer in his life and his drink of choice is whole milk. mac is 85, still going strong, and goes to work in manhattan every single day and shows clients incredible apartments in new york city. frank, on the other hand, is not as prestigious and works for mac's company. so for the bbq, frank grilled up a large piece of flank steak. the slovenian couple rosey and dan brought french rolls, fresh beats from their organic garden, finger length potato salad and some sort of kraut with nuts on top. everything they brought was tasty and seemed very gourmet to me! we all sat at the dinner table enjoying our meal for over two hours. everyone was chatting it up about various topics and i learned alot about organic farming, birds of bucks county and how to speak a bit of slovenian - i gather that is what the language is called. rosey said i had a natural knack for speaking her language because it is somewhat similar to slovak(where my great grandparents are from) and speaking those sort of words must be in my genes! if only she knew i have never spoken a word of that language in my lifetime. the whole cook out lasted close to five hours. when we arrived home i was pooped and went right to bed, as did dylan. i'm glad they invited us over, altho i would have felt much better if we brought a dish or dessert for everyone to enjoy. next time we go over there i'll have to make cupcakes or banana muffins. |

on thursday dylan had his 2 month doctor's appointment. he now weighs 11 pounds. what a chunky monkey! he received three shots and was cranky the whole afternoon. he calmed down a tad after i gave him some tylenol and took a long nap. when he woke up the next morning, he was amazingly back to normal! there was no swelling or redness around the injection site, and his legs were not sore or stiff. what a strong little boy he is!
yesterday i did hardly anything productive, other than clean up the house a bit, watch the rachael ray show(love it) and watch the super sweet sixteen marathon on mtv. i also saw a show called split ends on the style network. i have a feeling this show is going to be my new summer obsession! perhaps i just dig the show because i am in desperate need of a haircut and am looking for a new, sassy 'do.
this morning some realtor is coming to show the house AGAIN. this must be the tenth person who has looked at the place and frankly scarlett, i am sort of getting annoyed. i hate how they come at either 10 in the morning or 5 at night. those are the two times i am either taking a nap, getting dinner ready, or dylan is taking a nap. i called the remax appointment center the other day to see if they could reschedule to another day besides today. our landlord called me back and gave a song and dance about how the losers couldn't come any other time and they really want to sell the house, etc. THEN she added that a second showing needed to be scheduled for later this evening. i told her fine, let them come and get it over with. hmmm maybe i should leave a poopy diaper or a can of roach spray out in the open for everyone to see. bet those will be excellent selling points! i highly doubt either person today will buy this place because look at it! it's over priced and the upstairs apartment needs to be upgraded hardcore. whatever. maybe they will get lucky and some rich investor will buy the shack and replace our hideous maroon carpet.
anyway, i gots to download some new music now. the nano needs some new choons. |

i went to philadelphia on wednesday to check out the reading terminal market. i've been wanting to go there for some time now and the website made it look so nice with a slew of delicious food vendors. we were going to take the train but since i anticipated buying lots of produce and goodies, we ended up driving down to center city instead. the place sadly disappointed my expectations. the produce was not super fresh and i could have gotten the exact same products from wegmans. the amish booth were also a let down. they had only a small stand selling bakery goods and another larger stand selling jams and butters. there was also a spot on the one table with handmade cloth chhildrens books. i found one that i had as a child that my mom made for me. it had a marble composition looking cover and inside was all about abc's and zoo animals. i looked at the price and they wanted $19 for it! i couldn't dare pay that price, since the pattern for the book was only $3 my mom said. boo. on the way home, we made a pit stop at a teeny tiny store in chinatown that sold imitation sanrio goodies. i only purchased a pencil case for $1.75. for a late lunch, we stopped at the olive garden and each had the all you can eat salad, breadsticks and soup combo. my meal with very yummy!
yesterday i went to have my car inspected and the brakes checked out because i have been hearing weird noises since tuesday whenever i step on the break. turns out i needed new brake pads and roaters, plus new power steering fluid. the total came to just under $700. i planned on spending perhaps $300 at the most, so i was more than bummed out at the grand total! boo =( |

yesterday morning i went and had a root canal. it actually did not hurt as much as i anticipated, but then again, i did get six shots of novicane. the pain is now complely gone. i just need to continue to eat soft foods for a few days because the surrounding gum is a tad sensitive. my dad texted me and said he will take me out to lunch today to get soup or something because he is on vacation. i told him i would love to go to friday's and have their fried macaroni and their broccoli soup. yum! afterwards we're going to stop by peddler's village and browse their toy shoppe to see if there is anything fun to buy dylan. i want to get him a po teletubby, but it seems like every store has stopped selling teletubby stuff. |

dylan was born last weekend. my labor was enduced, i had to be hooked up to a mag drip for my skyhigh blood pressure, and ended up having an epidural because the combination of the medications was just horrible. my favorite doctor was on call that day and she delivered the bambino, so i was happy about that. i saldy could not have any visitors until sunday afternoon once i was unhooked from all the monitors and whatnot. i also had to eat very light until that afternoon. once i was able to eat real food, i ordered french toast, root beer and a bagel and had it delivered to my room. let me tell you, microwaved french toast and some unknown brand of syrup never tasted so divine. on monday i was finally released at 10am. i couldn't wait to get home and get out of that hospital. |

i have about 4 weeks to go before dylan gets here! thank goodness, because my fat, swollen ankles and feet need to go and i am more than ready to be done work for a few months.
last night we had our final class at the hospital. we had a breating review and took a tour of the maternity floor and talked about where we go once we enter the hospital and what to expect during our three day stay. i am hoping to get a private room when i am there so edson can stay and keep me company. the private rooms are much more cheerful than the other shared rooms with the blah wallpaper. as we wrapped up the tour, the nurse told us all to pass by the nursery on our way our to see a 'fresh one.' there was a little boy who was only one hour old being measured and getting his first two shots. he was adorable, but when the nurse gave him the shots in his little leggies, his bottom lip started to quiver so very badly and he began to cry. i have a feeling that is going to be the picture that will be stuck in my mine once they whisk dylan away from us after he is born. |

rumor has it that it's supposed to be 55 degrees today, which means no need to wear a heavy jacket, hat, or mittens. holla! i'm glad it's so nice out because for the past week i have been feeling miserable. i developed a bad head cold, which then turned into mild laringitis. i sounded like froggy from the little rascals and talking on the phone to losers all day at work totally did not help my situation at all. |

this morning i woke up to two inches of snow covered with a thick layer of ice. i am not a fan of snow, nor am i a fan of freezing rain and sleet. all the schools in the area were closed, but of course, the courthouse was open as always. i decided that since the township did not plow the neighborhood i would be a bit late. edson drove me in the new F250 truck and it took us close to a half hour to get there, when it normally takes about ten minutes at the most. the main roads sucked and were in dire need of salting. half of the office called out sick or were over an hour late due to the weather. the phones were ringing of the hook all morning with defendants asking if they still had to come to their court date or if we were closed. i pretty much sat at my desk answering the phone and doing nothing productive the whole morning. the highlight of my morning was when my soggy grilled cheese sandwich was delivered at lunchtime. at 4, edson came and picked me up. waiting on the passenger seat was a large hallmark envelope with my name on it. i quickly ripped it open and inside was an adorable valentine's day card with a chubby bear on the front. to top it off, the short love note that he wrote inside was written in proper english without any spelling errors. gott love that. on our way home, he asked what i wanted for dinner. i told him i wanted either a salad or a huge plate of pasta. i guess neither sounded appetizing enough for him, so he suggested we stop at longhorn steakhouse to grab a bite to eat. we each got filet with a baked potato and house salad. the salad and potato were delicious. my meat was perfectly well done, but edson's piece was not as wonderful. he wouldn't send it back, so he ended up eating his filet that was medium rare instead of very well done. we had a nice time and i was filled to the gills.
ps - happy valentine's day! |
